Yes, I’m back on the Internet 24/7. The Geek Squad paid a visit to my house and fixed my Network. It was an embarassingly easy fix, one of those “why didn’t I think of that” moments, but what the heck. Geeks need jobs too, right? And it’s people like me who keep them employed. ::sheesh::

But the upside is, I’ve got my network back, including the newfangled thing called “wireless” so I can use my laptop all over the house again. Yay!

As long as we’re talking good news, I’ll brag a bit and let y’all know that RAPHAEL continues to hold the #1 spot in Dark Fantasy sales at It’s been something like 6 weeks and it’s still holding strong! Is that too cool or what?

AND, there will be a brand new Interview with yours truly at Lesley’s Book Nook on Monday, 1 June 2009. This will be Lesley’s very first interview. She usually confines herself to book reviews, but RAPHAEL has driven her to break out and go wild! Er, something like that, anyway. Make sure you stop by and pay Lesley a visit. I’ve included a tiny glimpse of JABRIL in the Interview–just enough to let my readers know that Cyn remains true to form in the next book.

And speaking of next books . . . yikes! I’m still writing away on Book 3, which seems to have taken on a life of its own and just keeps growing. It’s looking good, though, so I’m content to keep typing away until the end. And then I’ll go back and take another look at what I have. And, then, I’ll have my crit partners take a look at it and see what I have LEFT! LOL

Whilst awaiting the return of my Internet, I did manage to sneak away and see the new Star Trek movie, which was fantastic! And BOOKS! Yes, I did some reading too. I read the first book in a new series (for me) by Mark del Franco. The first book is Unshapely Things and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be picking up books 2 and 3, which are already available. And I just last night finished the latest in J.R.Ward’s fantastic Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This is Rehvenge’s story and one of the best books yet, a return to the kind of action and writing I so admired in the earliest books.

And finally, don’t forget that the Great Muffin Contest continues through the month of June, so be sure and send in your contest entry–details are on the right. I’m getting lots of entries and lots of very nice words about RAPHAEL. You guys are the greatest!

Okay, back to writing!

CREEPY FACT FOR TODAY: In honor of June being the traditional month of weddings . . . At an average wedding reception you have a 1/100 chance of getting a cold sore from one of the guests (mouth herpes).

Now THERE’s a good reason to avoid kissing Aunt Aida!!!!! (apologies to all the Aunt Aidas out there, it’s just the alliteration factor and, well, I AM a writer!)

Okay, so that’s not entirely fair to my computer. It’s NOT my computer; it’s my router. Which died on me a couple days ago, leaving me with three computers and one Internet connection. Apparently, the person with a penis has first dibs on the Internet connection. Who knew? LOL

So I’m squeezing Internet time on my darling husband’s computer, which is very frustrating, while trying to (a) buy a new router and (b) get it hooked up. Same router, just swap the new one in, right? Of course not. I’m still trying to figure out how to convince the router that I DO have an Internet connection. ::sigh::

I have someone far more knowledgeable than I working on a solution, so I’m hoping to have a router back by tonight. Fingers crossed. Well, briefly, anyway. I have to type, ya know.

But onto the GOOD NEWS! Another review, wonderfully written, by Lesley at Lesley’s Book Nook. And Lesley will be doing an interview in a few days too — the first one on the Book Nook. I’ve received the questions, now I just have to figure out how to write some brilliant and clever answers with a brain that’s been totally fried by router problems.

MORE GOOD NEWS . . . RAPHAEL continues to be the #1 ranked Dark Fantasy on, which is just amazing. I’m so happy about that, and I want to thank everyone who bought their e-book over there, and especially those who took the time to rank RAPHAEL with all those “great” responses.

Okay, back to writing RAJMUND, which is coming along very, very nicely. And don’t forget to enter the trivia contest for the $25 Amazon gift certificate. You can find the contest details on this blog, below the covers of RAPHAEL and JABRIL.

Thanks, everyone!

I’ll be guest blogging on Monday, May 18th, over at Popin’s Lair. I’ll be talking about Vampires — past and present — and especially, about how I decided which characteristics my very own vampires would possess. Lots of people seem to have very definite opinions about this, and every author seems to draw her/his vampires a slightly different way. So, stop by, visit Popin’s Lair and join the discussion. I’ll be doing a RAPHAEL giveaway as part of my guest blog — anyone who comments through May 30th will have a chance to win an autographed copy of RAPHAEL. (I understand there are still a few of you out there who haven’t read the book, so this is your chance! LOL)

RAPHAEL continues to be #1 in Dark Fantasy at, which gives me tinglies all over. (Either that or there’s a short in my keyboard. Hmmmmm.) And don’t forget, I’m still running my May/June contest for a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate. It’s a trivia contest — details on the right, below the picture of my beeeyutiful JABRIL cover!

See you over at Popin’s Lair on Monday, May 18th!

I’m sorry! I put the wrong e-mail address in my contest entry post!!

Somewhere in AOL-land DBReynolds is getting a whole bunch of e-mails labeled “Contest” and wondering what the heck is going on!!

You should send your contest entries to!

Good thing this contest runs through June, so everyone has a chance to re-send their entries. Sheesh.

My sincere apologies!

RAPHAEL is still holding the #1 spot over at for Dark Fantasy, which is amazing to me. And if that’s not great enough, I received another 5 Star review from Book Movie Reviews. Drop over and check it out! It certainly made MY day brighter. And be sure and stop by my Squidoo page created by Michael Moore. Leave a comment when you visit, so Mike knows you’ve been there!

In honor of all the good news, I’m starting a new contest. Since I’m getting a late start, this one will run through June and be something slightly different. It’s a trivia contest based on RAPHAEL, a way of thanking my loyal readers. I tried to think of something only those who’ve read the book would know . . . so here goes. The question is: How many calories in Cyn’s housekeeper’s home-baked muffins? I’m not looking for scientific accuracy here, just the number Cyn is convinced each of the sinfully good muffins must contain. E-mail the answer to me at and put the word CONTEST in the subject line. At the end of June, I’ll take all the submissions with the right number and pull a winner.

What’s the prize, you say? A $25 Amazon gift certificate — which you can then use to buy JABRIL at the end of July! Ha, ha. No, you can use it to buy anything you want. I’ll be starting a new contest in July that will begin giving away copies of JABRIL.

Okay. Back to writing. I’m in NaNo mode this month, determined to have a revised, first draft of RAJMUND completed and ready for my crit group . . . so they can tell me everything that’s wrong with it. 😦

Creepy Fact for Today: In Brazil, there’s a species of cockroach that eats eyelashes, usually those of young children while they are asleep. The hungry little insect is attracted to the minerals and moisture from the tear ducts.

Popin won April’s giveaway and a signed copy of RAPHAEL is on its way to her. There will be something different for May/June since so many of you have read RAPHAEL by now, and I’m going to have to come up with something new as a prize! Hmmmm. It’s too early for JABRIL giveaways yet, so I’ll have to put some thought into this. I’m thinking Amazon gift certificate. That ought to stir up some interest.

And speaking of Amazon, they’ve added a note to the RAPHAEL listing . . . “Order now, only 1 left (more on the way.)” Which means Amazon is just about sold out of their first RAPHAEL order! That’s got to be good, right? Of course, for all I know, their first order was only ten books! LOLOLOLOL But I’m thinking positively.

And speaking of positive thinking about good books, I read a great book over the weekend. Rob Thurman’s Deathwish, the latest in her Cal and Nick Leandros saga. This was rumored to be the last in the series, although they’ve put that rumor to rest by saying there will be three more books. I have to say, folks, that I thought Deathwish was just about the best book yet. I recommend this series to anyone who likes Urban Fantasy.

I hear the crack of the whip, which means back to writing.

Is is May already? Where did April go? I need MORE TIME! I’m hard at work writing RAJMUND, which means late nights spent typing away on my laptop while other people sleep. I’m a definite night owl and do my best thinking, and writing, after midnight. My circadian rhythm tells me that 4:00 a.m. is just about the perfect time to call it a night (a day?) and go to sleep. Of course, the Real World doesn’t run on my clock, so I expect to be tired for most of the next couple of months.

And since you’re probably wondering about that headline, Michael Moore, a professional ghostwriter from Ontario,Canada, has written a review of RAPHAEL, and created a “lens” for the Vampires in America series on Squidoo. Squidoo is a popular on-line publishing platform and community with nearly 900,000 personal “lenses.” Lenses are pages, kind of like flyers or signposts or overview articles, that gather everything the lens creator knows know about something and, as they say, “snaps it all into focus.” Hence the term “lens.”

It’s a pretty interesting concept, and, may I say, a good review! I also did an interview with Mike, so experience something new and different and go on over to Squidoo, read Mike’s review and my interview and let him know what you think. Here’s the link to RAPHAEL’s Squidoo page!

I’m tallying the April comments now and will draw the monthly winner later today. There will be a new contest for May, just as soon as my brain catches up to the reality that it REALLY IS May!

Thanks to all of you out there who continue to buy and read RAPHAEL. This is a dream come true.

Creepy Fact for Today: Truffles are actually more valuable than gold, going for thousands of dollars an ounce. The Italian recordholder was expected to go for more than $200,000. This is creepy because there’s actually someone out there willing to pay more than $200,000 for a MUSHROOM!
