December 12, 2011
Well, truthfully, I’ve been doing more than shopping the last couple of weeks. I’ve been doing a lot of promo stuff, like guest blogs and interviews. And since I can’t turn off my brain, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and note taking about LUCAS and other upcoming projects, too.
BUT … my holiday shopping is officially o.v.e.r. Packages will go off in the mail on Tuesday (because today is the busiest shipping day of the year … did you know that?) I still have to wrap the local presents, or rather put them and a bunch of tissue in some gift bags, which are one of the greatest inventions of all time. I’m a terrible wrapper. Even my mom thought I was terrible and she had no patience for wrapping at all!
But I’m still back on the writing track as of this evening. Vignettes, novellas and sweet, sweet LUCAS (who’s not always so sweet…irritating male.)
That doesn’t mean the fun stuff stops, though.
I also have two guest spots coming later this week. This Wednesday, December 14th I’ll be doing an interview and live chat with Literal Addiction and Book Monster Reviews. The interview will be at both Literal Addiction’s Author’s Corner and Book Monster Reviews with a separate giveaway for each venue.
The live chat will also take place this Wednesday, December 14th, at 5:00 pm Pacific (8:00 pm Eastern.) The chat forum is HERE, below the fold. You should check in early to be sure your JAVA is up to date and to create a log-in, if necessary. Again, the CHAT log-in is below the fold.
Also, this week is RomFan Reviews’ Holiday Blog Hop. I’ll be guest posting there this Friday, December 16th, with another giveaway.
And I’ll be linking to all of these events and their giveaways on Facebook and Twitter as they unfold.
More wonderful reviews came in this week, too. DUNCAN’s release has introduced new readers to the series, so I’m getting reviews not just of DUNCAN, but of all the previous books, too. So nice!
SOPHIA was reviewed by
The Romance Reviews and named a Top Pick in addition to having already been nominated as Best PNR 2011.
And … my new laptop computer arrived this week! Squeeee! I wasn’t expecting it until the 21st, and I’ve been so busy that all I’ve done so far is plug it in. Sheesh.
So…despite the absence of thousands of words, it was a great week! And the coming week promises to be equally busy and equally fun, plus…some words, too.
I hope to see you all at my live chat on Wednesday, and I will see all of you back here next Sunday/Monday night!

And other things, too, but for the next several months, it will be Vampires. I’ll be putting together an anthology of all the Vampire Vignettes so far, plus a couple of new ones. Depending on sales, it will probably only be in e-format, but it will be available on Kindle, Nook and Smashwords. Does that cover Apple devices? I’ll have to find that out. My plan is to cover all the available platforms. And if you don’t have an e-reader, you can always download the Kindle for PC and read it on your PC. That will be early in the year.
And then I’ll be writing a brand new Raphael/Cyn novella. This is something new, kind of stories between the books, but much longer than the Vignettes. These will be available in e-format initially, but once I’ve written two or more, my publisher will put them together and make a print book available. I’m hoping the books will all be available on Nook, in addition to Kindle, by then. But again, there’s always the Kindle for PC fallback. I’m not sure about the release date, yet. But somewhere between the Vignette Anthology and LUCAS. The novella will feature Raphael and Cyn and lead directly into the next full-length Vampires novel.
Which means, after the novella, it’s time for LUCAS, my cowboy vampire. You’ll meet Lucas for the first time at the very end of DUNCAN. I don’t want to give anything away, but, let’s see … he’s gorgeous, he’s sexy, and he likes to walk the fine edge of Raphael’s patience. And he’s about to meet a woman who presents a challenge he just can’t resist.
And I’ll be getting started on all of those writing projects for NaNoWriMo this year. For those of you unfamiliar with NaNo, it’s the annual exercise in torment for masochistic writers all over the world! We take on the challenge of writing 50K words in a single month. For anyone who doesn’t realize … that’s a lot of words! Especially when you’re a total compulsive like I am and constitutionally incapable of ignoring the rules of grammar, syntax, spelling, story … The good part is, I end up with something useable at the end of the month, whereas some of what gets written during NaNo … well, let me be polite and simply say it needs some work. LOL
But before any of that writing, NaNo or otherwise, sees the light beyond my computer, we will finally see the release of my sweet DUNCAN! It’s so close now, I can hardly wait!
Unfortunately, I have to, so I’ll satisfy myself with some new reviews and other good stuff for this week.
RT Book Reviews published their review of RAJMUND this month and I’m SO happy! 4 1/2 stars! I can’t link to the review, because it’s by subscription, but I can quote it … “an uber-sexy vampire lord, an intriguing heroine and red-hot sensuality …” I couldn’t agree more. Rajmund is definitely uber-sexy!
There were some excellent new reviews posted on Amazon, too. And speaking of Amazon, SOPHIA is still part of their October promo, which means you can get the Kindle version for only $2.99. I think the promo only lasts through October, but I’m not sure. I do know it will go back to the regular price once the promo’s over.
And while we’re talking about promos, Steph and Athenna at Paranormal Haven are hosting their annual Halloween at the Haven with lots of excellent guests and cool giveaways. I’ll be over there at the end of the month, but more on that later.
And I think that’s it for this week, but I’ll see you right back here next Sunday, with hopefully more news about DUNCAN and when my publisher will let me post at least a tiny peek. Oooooooooh. Can’t see much of Duncan if the peek is tiny. (Shame on me. Yeah, right. LOL_
September 4, 2011
I’ll keep this short, because I know you all want to move on to the new Vignette!
No cover for DUNCAN yet, though I’m hopeful it will be soon. A new review of RAJMUND at
The Romance Reviews. A good one, so I”m happy.
I’ve been reading lots of books, but couldn’t recommend any until this week when I finally read a couple I enjoyed enough to post. I’ll be updating my What I’m Reading Now later tonight, if you’re interested.
My Buffy rerun fixation continues. Angel has come back from a few centuries of torment in Hell, and may I say that a half-naked Angel straining at his chains is a sight to see. ::sigh::
Okay, that’s it for this week. Happy Labor Day to my readers in the U.S. and Happy Vignette to you all.
See you next week!
August 22, 2011
Okay, so Vignette #4 is up as promised. For a brief time this weekend, #3 and #4 shared the spotlight, but we’re back to one lonely Vignette at a time. So, this week it’s #4. Only a couple more weeks and a brand new Vignette will appear.
In the meantime, Bitten by Paranormal Romance has posted a new review of RAJMUND. This is just part of what their reviewer, Cynthia, had to say …
Ms. Reynolds’ Vampire in America Series is one you must put on your TBR and/or Keeper Shelf. I started reading the series a bit backwards; reading the last book, SOPHIA, first and then continuing on in the correct order. I have rated all of the books ‘5 An Alpha Howl’, but RAJMUND, gets the Top Bite Award. Move over Raphael, there’s a new Lord in town.
Yep, my beautiful, blue-eyed vamp gets a Top Bite Award. I have a soft spot for Raj. I think he’s frequently misunderstood, which is my fault as the writer. But, I’m always happy when someone loves him as much as I do.
In other news, I’ve been working on a revamping (no pun intended) of my blog. Mostly organizational stuff — when I started I only had the one book, but now with what will soon be five (5!) books out there, I need to change things up a bit. I’m not sure when I’ll have it ready. I’ll be compulsively checking and rechecking everything a million times before it goes live, but hopefully it will be in time for DUNCAN’s debut anyway.
And speaking of DUNCAN (and don’t we all want to?) it’s hard to believe, but I’m already scheduling a few promo appearances for his book! Amazing. I’m on pins and needles for this one. I can hardly wait to get a cover, and I can especially hardly wait until the book is out.
Okay, that’s it for this week. Gotta go watch tonight’s True Blood episode! We still have family in town, so this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and watch it. Thank the gods of harassed authors and vampire fans for DVR technology!!
See you all next week!
March 7, 2011
We’re in very good and VERY competitive company—J.R.Ward, Kresley Cole, and just about every other bestselling author in the genre—so the odds aren’t good, but it’s worth a whirl.
You can vote for RAJMUND HERE and thank you!
And now for Read an Ebook Week! There’s a website set up for this event HERE and they’re having all sorts of contests during the events.
But even more exciting, my publisher, ImaJinn Books is celebrating Ebook Week by giving away free books! (no, not mine) But they’re adding two new titles every day this week, so keep checking back to see what you can download for free! Both PDF and Kindle/Kobi formats will be available.
Also, ImaJinn is giving away TWO free Kindles in future contests, but you can qualify for the contest NOW. Make any purchase on the ImaJinn Books website in March or April and you’re automatically entered in both contests. You can also mail in an entry, but you’ll have to check the website next week to get the details on that.
And finally in very BIG news for me and mine, my critique partner Michelle Muto, who contributes so much to the quality of MY books, has her own first book releasing later this week. It’s a Paranormal YA with witches, werewolves, vampires and demons … oh my! I’ll be posting the Amazon link as soon as it’s up. If you know any YA readers looking for a good paranormal tale, I can recommend this one.
For those of you who might have missed it, the second chapter of SOPHIA is now available. Read through (or scroll down) Chapter One and you’ll see it. It’s under the SOPHIA tab above, or you can click HERE.
Don’t forget to VOTE FOR RAJMUND and I’ll see you all next week!
February 7, 2011
So, my favorite commercial was the Volkswagen one with the little Darth Vader. Loved it. I laughed so hard. I have a male relative (who shall graciously remain nameless) who used to sing the entire Darth Vader theme. Duh duh duh duh duh-duh duh duh-duh. The whole thing! LOL He never got a car to start, though.
I wrote the epilogue to Duncan today. Not because I’ve finished the rest of the story, but because I’ve been mulling over how to introduce Book Six (SIX!! OMG!!!) and it suddenly hit me. I wrote it out so I wouldn’t forget. And I like it!
Now, of course, I have to get back to writing everything that comes BEFORE the epilogue. I’m loving DUNCAN, though, so no problems there.
Next week, I’ll be posting the first teaser chapter for SOPHIA. I’m so excited about this book! I wish April was here already!!
And the first three books are doing extremely well in Kindle sales! RAPHAEL, especially, since he’s priced at only $2.99, but all three books continue to sell really well. RAPHAEL goes up and down, but he pretty much stays somewhere in the top 100 Kindle sales for Romance/Vampire. JABRIL and RAJMUND flit in and out of the top 100. For a brief time today, RAPHAEL actually bumped into the top 100 Kindle/Fiction/Horror. I never thought of RAPHAEL as horror, but I guess if it’s Vampire, it’s horror!!
Don’t forget that the latest contest, which is asking for Duncan’s last name, continues. I’ve gotten quite a few entries, but I’ve also gotten a couple of e-mails asking if it’s a trick question. And the answer is NOPE. Duncan definitely has a last name and it’s definitely somewhere in the first three books. I’ll accept entries until midnight February 19th, PST, and I’ll be announcing the winner on February 20th. Entries should be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and be sure to put Contest in the subject line, so my SPAM filter doesn’t toss it.
And my good friend and wonderful writer, Adrian Phoenix, is giving away signed galleys and cover flats of her forthcoming Etched in Bone, which is the fourth book of her Maker’s Song series. THAT is one book I’ve already pre-ordered for my Kindle. Midnight on February 22, that book is MINE!!
And finally, a reminder that I’ll be wandering around the RT Booklovers Convention in L.A. in April, and signing at the Book Expo. Plus JABRIL has been nominated for an RT Reviewer’s Choice award, which will be announced at the convention. It would be nice to see some familiar faces, or at least put faces to familiar names!
Hmmm, okay, it’s back to writing for me. Duncan awaits!!
See you next week with the first taste of SOPHIA!
January 3, 2011
2011. Wow. I started this blog in February 2009 just in time for the release of RAPHAEL. I was recovering from major surgery, hoping to find the energy somewhere to finish the edits/galley proofs for RAPHAEL and then do it all over again for JABRIL. It was my first book and I had no idea what I was doing.
It’s been two years since then, and thanks to all of you I’m still here, and SOPHIA, Book 4!, will soon be a reality. It just doesn’t get much better than that.
I trust all of you had a good New Year’s celebration, whether quiet or noisy. For me, this new year means the start of a new book. As I posted on my writing group earlier, for the next few months, it will be all DUNCAN all the time. As always when I begin a new project, I’m very excited to get going. But this time it’s even better, because, well, it’s DUNCAN! WooHoo! But also because I’m ready for some good old-fashioned, bloody violent vampires and S.E.X. Y.E.S! Bring it on, baby!
Feels good, already.
A couple of notes before I go …
I was very, very happy to see RAJMUND listed as one of Stephanie’s Favorite 10 for 2010 at Paranormal Haven. It makes me so proud of my beautiful blue-eyed vamp! And Athenna has decided that since I show such excellent taste in finding Dean (Supernatural) to be the hunkier of the two Winchester brothers, my books must be read! Not that my preference for Dean should surprise anyone. I’ve made no secret of liking the bad boys better.
Also for anyone planning to attend the RT Booklovers Convention in Los Angeles in April, I will definitely be there. I’ll be signing at the Book Expo for sure, and floating around the rest of the time. I’m a backup author on a couple of panel groups, so there’s always that possibility, but I’ll be there every day regardless. They have so many great authors scheduled, I’m excited to be there as a reader, as well as a writer.
One last thing, don’t forget to read Vampire Vignette #5 while you still can. I don’t know how long it will last!
Okay, guess I’ll go get some work done on … DUNCAN! Squeeeeeee!
See you next week.
December 27, 2010
Well, as you’ve no doubt noticed by now, Vampire Vignette #5 is up, just in time to fill that weird week between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s that week which isn’t really a holiday, but not exactly not a holiday, and you don’t really feel like working, but maybe you have to anyway, but half the people you work with are gone and you’ve got new presents to play with and gift certificates to spend ….
But when you’re finally sitting down with a nice latte, or in my case a hot chocolate, you can read about my beautiful blue-eyed vampire. I do love me some Raj. ::sigh::
As always, this Vignette will stay up for awhile before disappearing. I haven’t decided exactly how long yet, but I’ll be teasing the first couple chapters of SOPHIA before too long. And it will disappear before that.
For those of you who were hoping for Raphael and Cyn in the Vignette, do not despair! There’s plenty of them, lots and lots of them, in the forthcoming SOPHIA.
Publishing news … my publisher, ImaJinn Books is running a super post-holiday sale on the website. Print books are 40% off and there are coupons, too, depending on the size of the order. It’s only on through January 3rd and only on the website.
Also, for those of you who picked up a new Kindle for the holiday, RAPHAEL is still $2.99 for the Kindle version on Amazon. But that, too, is a special price and won’t last much longer, certainly not beyond the holiday season.
For me, the new year means turning my attention full time to DUNCAN and I can hardly wait. I’ve been working on my YA Fantasy, but I’m ready for some serious Vampire action, both in and out of the bedroom … or the living room, or the office, or wherever the mood strikes!! Yay!
I wish every one of you a SAFE and Happy New Year celebration. And I’ll see you in 2011.
December 6, 2010
What do those two things have in common?
Well, me, apparently.
I just found out this week that a story I wrote and entered into the Emily contest, which is sponsored by the West Houston RWA chapter, has finaled in the Story w/Romantic Elements category. The winners won’t be announced until February, but right now I’m just thrilled to have finaled in a very competitive category.
And as for Kindle? My publisher contacted me this week with the news that she hopes to have all of my books available in Kindle format by Christmas! Yay! Apparently, the Kindle is a veeerrry popular gift this year, so my publisher definitely wants my stories available to all those people shopping for books to buy for their new Kindles after the holidays. Actually, a member of my writing group tried to buy a Kindle this week and was told there’s a six week backorder. That’s Amazon-Canada, though, so it might not apply in the U.S.
I’ve fully recovered from NaNo and have begun editing/revising my project. In the meantime, I’m working on Duncan’s outline, with scenes popping into my head left and right. I’m also still getting the occasional scene for the book after Duncan. I have the story for that one, too, and just this week, I mentioned to my husband that I needed a name and he came up with the perfect name on the first try! What a man! I have to check in with my publisher to be sure there are no objections, but I think it’s perfect!!
As of Sunday, Raj is STILL holding onto the number one Dark Fantasy position at Fictionwise.com, with Raphael and Jabril moving in and out of the top five. Sweet!
Vampire Vignette #2 is in its second re-run week now. I’ll put #3 up next Sunday, and yes, I’ll put it up Saturday night (Sunday morning), so it’s actually available on Sunday. My bad.
Here’s the rest of the Vampire Vignette schedule …
November 28th — Vignette #2 — A Vampire Valentine
December 12th — Vignette #3 — The Invitation
December 19th — Vignette #4 — The Party
December 25th — Vignette #5 — to be announced.
Oh, yeah, and I’ve started writing Vampire Vignette #5! It’s going to be very special! Uh huh.
I almost forgot! I’m blogging on Fresh Fiction today and giving away a signed copy of Rajmund! All you have to do is comment and your name goes in the drawing. Here’s the link!
See you next week!
October 4, 2010
First, let me thank everyone for all the great names! You all outdid yourselves. It was a really tough decision, there were so many wonderful choices, but here goes.
Honorable Mentions (in alphabetical order):
. . . Coyote Hole (submitted by Jan)
. . . Deadfall (submitted by Maggie)
. . . Howlers (submitted in one form or another by Ginamarie, S. Moore and Vicki Hurley)
Honorable mention for an astounding number of submissions goes to Maggie, to Jen (and her husband), and to Pam.
And now, trumpets please . . . the WINNER is . . .
BABE’s (as in Paul Bunyan’s blue ox) submitted by Amy (via e-mail.)
Amy will receive a signed copy of SOPHIA once it’s released and will have her talents recognized on the acknowledgments page of the book. Plus, she gets to hear (read) Cyn’s discourse on the unlikelihood of anyone in that bar knowing about Paul Bunyan’s blue ox!
And as a consolation prize, I’ve posted a new Deleted Scene from RAJMUND for everyone to enjoy. This is Emelie’s POV of the first time she met Raj, when she woke up after he rescued her in Albany, NY.
Congratulations to Amy and to all of the Honorable Mentions, too. And thanks to all of you once again for playing!
See you soon.
